This prefigurative praxis, however, has been subject to a growing critique from those defending a more vertical form of radical politics; these critics argue that the fragmented world of prefigurative praxis is incapable of developing a coherent counter-hegemonic strategy capable of replacing capitalism. Whilst questioning elements of such critiques, I suggest here that prefigurative social movements have indeed struggled to build on their early successes.
